Employing a Consulting Engineer provides clients with technical assurance, value for money, and risk mitigation. An experienced engineer balances capital investment against long-term operating and lifecycle costs, avoids lowest cost/lowest quality solutions, and ensures energy efficiency, regulatory compliance, and reliable performance. Acting as an independent advisor, the Consulting Engineer protects the client’s interests, supports informed decision making, and reduces uncertainty, helping projects run smoothly, efficiently, and cost effectively from concept through to operation.

Why Employ a Consulting Engineer?

On most major building projects, Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services represent 25–45% of total construction cost, making early and expert input essential. A Consulting Engineer is appointed to define technical requirements, prepare performance specifications, and ensure like for like tendering. Throughout design and construction, they independently monitor design development, installation, commissioning, and handover, ensuring systems are fit for purpose, compliant, and aligned with the client’s objectives.

How We Work.

Project Scales.

We support projects ranging from small investigative surveys through to multi-million-pound construction schemes. While surveys account for around 10% of our turnover, they often form the gateway to wider design and delivery commissions.

Frameworks & Procurement.

We are appointed through multiple recognised frameworks, including:

  • Manchester City Council – CAPPS Framework
  • Bloom Procurement
  • Crown Commercial Services (HELGA DPS)
  • Procurement for Housing
  • EN Procure
  • Stockport Schools
  • Torus Group
